Densura is a bespoke scheme that offers professional indemnity, public/products liability & legal expenses insurance coverage for GDC and criminal prosecutions. Dentists could pay a premium, which is up to 40% less than that available elsewhere.

Furthermore, because it is individually rated, the premium will be based on your unique practice and claims experience providing you with a personal bespoke solution.

Densura Timeline

In response to the spiralling costs of indemnity, Oasis Dental approached Lockton in 2013 to try and obtain a better deal for their dentists – broad, secure insurance cover at a fair price.

  • 2014
    In 2014 we launched Oasis Indemnity, supported by A rated insurer Royal & Sun Alliance and with our own experienced dental-legal advisor, Dr Paul Lambden
  • 2015
    In 2015 we expanded our team, setting up in the heart of Manchester, giving us the ability to cover the UK and prepare for future expansion
  • 2016
    2016 saw us attract our 500th dentist and expand our advisory team to three practicing dentists with a legal qualification
  • 2017
    With BUPA’s (Previously Oasis) blessing, we moved away from working exclusively with BUPA and launched Densura opening up our market-leading product to other dental groups across the UK.
  • 2018
    We expanded our business development team, and launched our online application form, making the process of applying easier.
  • 2019
    By now we had 10 Dental Advisors and had 1,000 dentist clients. We continued to attend several dental events, including the Rodericks’ new starter days and once again, the Dental Forum and {my}dentist’s clinical conference, this time offering several training sessions on managing risk.
  • 2020
    Even with the challenge of COVID 19 we continued to innovate and improve our offering. We expanded Densura to the broader dental market, outside of those working in corporates, along with an offering to Hygienists. A state of the art CPD platform was also introduced.
  • 2021
    We launched our new website, including an on-line premium indication facility. The site includes a hub for all members, meaning everything Densura all sits in one place. Excitingly we also launched Dentrepreneurs, our exclusive club for all Densura clients interested in growing professionally and expanding their network in a collegiate environment.

Meet the Team

Tom Hester

Tom is a member of Healthcare’s management team with expertise in Consultants, Dentists, Private Hospitals, Telehealth and Private Clinics. Outside of work, his two daughters keep him busy but when he has five minutes free his spare time is filled with all things automotive.

Kevin Culliney

With a third of a century of insurance experience, Kevin leads our Healthcare practice. “Our UK business was founded on seeing everything from the perspective of the healthcare professional. From innovative program design to early engagement in patient complaints, our aim should always be to protect our clients and not duck difficult conversations.” His philosophy is to get ahead of any issues, communicate effectively and make clients’ lives easier.

Outside of the office four children, a dog, travel and work with several charities keep him pretty busy.

James Gunn

James is an account manager within the Healthcare team with a specific focus on medical malpractice insurance for corporate entities. His role involves handling a wide variety of clients within the Healthcare sector from large Out of Hours/Primary Care providers, Federations and membership organisations through to individual consultants and dentists with complex issues. His role involves the servicing of both existing clients and prospective clients.

In his spare time James is an avid football fan (a definite focus on watching as opposed to playing at this point) and is soon to become a father for the first time in early 2021.

Laura Blundell

Laura is an account manager and works closely with dental professionals to develop and maintain long-term relationships, provide advice on all aspects of dental indemnity and offer day-to-day support to existing clients.

In her spare time Laura threatens to bake delightful sounding goods but rarely provides tangible evidence of her baking prowess. As a textbook millennial, she has joined the cult following of Joe Wicks and his fitness videos.

Flora McCabe

Flora is a medical regulatory and clinical negligence defence lawyer, helping to manage claims and complaints and manage risk and protect patient safety across a wide range of specialisms including GPs, out of hours and 111 providers, Consultants, Dentists, Private Hospitals, and Telehealth. She is a member of the Healthcare Team working on all aspects of growth and management.

Outside of work, Flora is passionate about the Art, and loves to attend live performances and visit galleries and museums. Otherwise she can be found in her native Norfolk, taking long walks under the big skies with her energetic and rather disobedient cockapoo.

Matt Jones

Having been with Lockton since 2016, Matt has taken time to develop his understanding of the developing healthcare market and build strong relationships with a number of our individual practitioners.

Matt spends the majority of his time servicing our book of self-employed dental practitioners. He is looking to enhance his knowledge of larger healthcare corporations over the next few years.

Outside of work, Matt enjoys spending time in the Lake District.

James Donald

James has been an integral member of the Healthcare team since 2018 as an Account Administrator. He provides support to the team with ensuring deadlines and SLA’s are met to a high standard. Alongside this he account manages our book of Psychiatrists.

Outside of work he enjoys going to the gym, seeing his family and friends and is looking to take tennis back up as a hobby.

Jenny Williams

Jenny is an experienced medical negligence defence solicitor who specialises in advising and defending healthcare practitioners facing complaints and legal claims. Jenny is resolution focused and delivers pragmatic guidance centred around the robust rebuttal of claims or early settlement where warranted. Jenny also advises clients on risk management and avoidance of claims.

When she’s not working Jenny’s time is taken up with her 13 year old daughter (who thinks she is 18!) and a rescued whippet (who is equally demanding!).

Emma Webb

Emma has worked for Densura & Lockton since 2018 and came to dental indemnity insurance from a dental sales background. Having worked in surgery as a dental nurse and on the road visiting practices, Emma has seen dentistry from many different aspects. Emma covers the Midlands, Wales, South West & Ireland, allowing her to concentrate more on the corporate practices in her area and spend the time required detailing the benefits to each individual.

In her spare time Emma has two dogs that keep her very busy, along with keeping her Audi TT spotless.

Brenda Wilbourn

Brenda works within the Healthcare claims team, predominantly focussing on dentists, out of hours and urgent care services. She is a registered dental nurse of twenty eight years’ experience and has a wealth of governance knowledge and expertise which includes complaints’ handling, serious incident investigation and incident management.

Brenda has one daughter currently studying at university. She has a love for cats in general but has two that act more like a pair of fluffy jumpers and regularly follow her to the shop to buy milk! In her spare time Brenda enjoys a walk in the Derbyshire countryside and enjoys socialising with friends and family.
